Once again this year Passion City Church purchased a book for each child at E. Rivers Elementary! These books were passed out to each homeroom teacher's classrooms. Passion City Church, in total, purchased 45,000 books for students in Atlanta Public Schools, Dekalb County and Cobb County Schools! Thank you Passion City Church! This year we will have a Burmese Mountain dog named Pearl join our E. Rivers family. Pearl, from Reading P.A.W.S., will read with some of our E. Rivers students to help boost reading achievement. Pearl will come to school for an hour, one day a week and read with several of our students throughout the school year! We are so excited to welcome Pearl to our E. Rivers family! For more information about Reading P.A.W.S. check out their website. http://www.readingpaws.org/READingPaws/Welcome.html
Watch the video and then think of ways you can fill someone's bucket. When you do that your bucket will get filled by encouraging others.Buckhead Marriott partnered with several 5th graders last year on their IB project to put a Little Free Library in front of the school. They met with Michelle Barton and came up with the plan. Buckhead Marriott generously purchased the Little Free Library, installed it in front of our school, and this week we had a dedication ceremony with many of our current 5th graders. This event has inspired our current 5th graders to already be thinking about their upcoming IB exhibition projects. Thank you Buckhead Marriott! We look forward to partnering with you on other endeavors!
One of the fifth grade IB Exhibition projects this year was to build a Little Free Library for our school grounds. One group partnered with Marriott Hotel's community outreach executives. Here'e a picture of the meeting (Kaylin missing from picture) and their message to our students and commitment to our school.
Hailey took the challenge to make a movie about our Media Center for School Library Month!! She was an incredible movie maker! Go Hailey!
The E. Rivers media center is a place where children can come to find great books, a place to read, play, explore, build, create, wonder and hang out with their friends. There is never a dull moment in the media center!
